Volunteer Calendar
* * * COVID UPDATE * * *
The Oregon Food Bank is doing everything we can to respond to this public health crisis and ensure our food assistance system remains strong in the wake of coronavirus. Our communities face rapidly-changing food and health challenges, and volunteer shifts will also evolve to match. We are committed first and foremost to the health and safety of our community - to our clients, volunteers, and the broader foodstream. Especially as we enter the Flu Season.
Please go online to cancel your shift and consider other ways to contribute during this crisis,
if you or someone in your household:
- Has a cough, fever 99.5 or higher, or any type of respiratory illness (seek medical advice).
- Has headaches, tiredness, body aches, chills, sore throat, sneezing, stuffy or runny nose, difficulty breathing, loss of taste/smell, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea.
- Has been in close contact with anyone who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19.
- Is a healthcare worker caring for a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient.
- If you are 60+ years of age, or who have underlying health conditions or risk factors.
- If you're a returning resident or you've traveled to Oregon from outside the state, OHA requires a 14-day quarantine.
Important Things to Know
Are shifts full or not showing up on the calendar? If 'Total Spots' say 0, the shift is full. Please keep checking back as things change rapidly. We are able to open up Food Repack/Sort Shifts 1 week at a time, and Offsite Volunteer Opportunities, 1 month out. Food Repack/Sort shifts for the next week will be posted Friday afternoons.
During the pandemic, all-volunteer shifts require a minimum age of 16 to participate.
Click on a specific shift for detailed information that includes shift description. Same-day sign-up is not available due to planning purposes.
The most urgent need is at our Offsite Volunteer Opportunities.
3 food repack/sort shifts a week. At this time, we ask that you volunteer no more than 3 times a week. This does not include offsite shifts.
To account for social distancing every volunteer must register ahead of time. We are retooling our volunteer shifts to the extent possible. Each shift has a limited number of spots. Walk-ins may be turned away.
The CDC recommends everyone uses cloth masks in public. We are making the use of face coverings mandatory during shifts. Please bring your own. We have a small inventory available for use during your shift only, if needed.
Additional Screening: At food repack/sort shifts for staff and volunteers there will be a contact-free thermometer to confirm a normal temperature of 99.5 or below.
Organizing a Group
Repack Shifts: We are not currently accepting group sign-ups at this time for food repack shifts. If you are working to organize a group or family activity for a repack shift we ask that every member of your group sign up as an individual.
Community Food Distribution and Free Food Market volunteer shifts are available for groups of at least 5 people. Use the Availability filter in the Calendar Filter below to locate an offsite opportunity for small groups.
Mandated Community Service
• To apply to our Mandated Community Service Program (Required for court, citation, etc.) click on the "create a profile" tab at the top of this page and complete the required information.
Food Repack/Sort volunteer shifts are the only option for mandated service at this time.
