* * * COVID-19 UPDATE * * *

The Oregon Food Bank is doing everything we can to respond to this public health crisis and ensure our food assistance system remains strong in the wake of coronavirus. Our communities face rapidly-changing food and health challenges, and volunteer shifts will also evolve to match. We are committed first and foremost to the health and safety of our community - to our clients, volunteers, and the broader foodstream.

Please go online to cancel your shift and consider other ways to contribute during this crisis,
if you or someone in your household:
- Has a cough, fever 99.5 or higher, or any type of respiratory illness (seek medical advice).
- Has been in close contact with anyone who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19.
- Is a healthcare worker caring for a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient.
- If you are 60+ years of age, or who have underlying health conditions or risk factors.

Important Things to Know
  • Are shifts full or not showing up on the calendar? If 'Total Spots' say 0, the shift is full. Please keep checking back. Things are changing rapidly and we are able to open up Food Repack Shifts 1 week at a time, and Offsite Volunteer Opportunites, 1 month out. Food Repack shifts for the next week will be posted Friday afternoons.
  • Volunteer shifts require a minimum age of 16 to participate, except Community Food Distribution shifts which require 18+.
  • Click on a specific shift for detailed information that includes shift description. Same day sign up is not available due to planning purposes.
  • The most urgent need is at our Offsite Volunteer Opportunites.
  • 3 food repack shifts a week. At this time, we ask that you volunteer in a food repack shift no more than 3 times a week. This does not include offsite shifts.
  • To account for social distancing every volunteer must register ahead of time. We are retooling our volunteer shifts to the extent possible. Each shift has a limited number of spots. Walk-ins may be turned away.
  • Previously signed up for a shift? We'll be in touch if your shift is still happening or if it needs to be canceled. You can also log-in to see your 'upcoming shifts'.
  • The CDC recommends everyone uses cloth masks in public. We are making the use of face coverings mandatory during shifts. Please bring your own. We have a small inventory available for use during your shift only, if needed.
  • What about the shelter-in-place order? Travel to and from your scheduled volunteer shift is allowed under the Essential Services exception to shelter-in-place order. Written proof and car sign provided before or at your shift.
Organizing a Group
We are taking every possible step to practice the social distancing required to keep everyone healthy and safe, so we are not currently accepting group sign-ups at this time. If you are working to organize a group or family activity we ask that every member of your group sign up as an individual. Community Food Distribution and Free Food Market volunteer shifts are the only options for groups at this time. Use the availability filter to locate.

Mandated Community Service
To apply to our Mandated Community Service Program (Required for court, citation, etc.) click on the "create a profile" tab at the top of this page and complete the required information. Food Repack volunteer shifts are the only option for mandated service at this time.
